  A market-review meeting can spend most of its time catching up. By the time everyone has shared their links, there’s little time left to decide what needs doing.

Share the brief beforehand, then use the meeting to discuss the changes that might affect your plan.

Send the team the brief. It gives them:

- the changes worth discussing;
- how each organisation relates to your business;
- what the changes mean for current priorities; and
- a suggested next step for each main development.

Each main development links to its sources in Clarveni. Each news source shows a date where one is available, usually when it was reported; some dates are when the article was found, so check the source when timing matters. In your own notes, add anything the team has decided to set aside and which questions need another source.

Ask everyone to read it and note any recommendation they want to question.

### [\#](#content-0-5-minutes-check-your-priorities "Permalink")0-5 minutes: check your priorities

Have your customers, offer or priorities changed since the last review? Check that you’re judging this week’s developments against the plans you’re working to now.

### [\#](#content-5-15-minutes-decide-what-matters "Permalink")5-15 minutes: decide what matters

For each development, ask whether it changes an important assumption or a decision you need to make. Keep useful background in the notes if it doesn’t need discussion now.

### [\#](#content-15-23-minutes-discuss-what-it-means-for-each-team "Permalink")15-23 minutes: discuss what it means for each team

Ask the people responsible:

- Executive: does this affect the plan or need several teams to work together?
- Product: does this change a customer need or an assumption behind the roadmap?
- Sales: does this change how we explain our value or what managers should discuss?

The founder or owner can consider what these changes mean for the business as a whole.

### [\#](#content-23-28-minutes-agree-the-next-action "Permalink")23-28 minutes: agree the next action

Name one owner, the question they’ll answer and when they’ll bring it back to the group. If the answer is to keep watching, agree what would make you reconsider.

### [\#](#content-28-30-minutes-note-disagreements-and-open-questions "Permalink")28-30 minutes: note disagreements and open questions

Note any recommendation the team disagreed with, what information was missing and what needs checking before the next review.

-------------------------------------------------------------

Keep the brief and your meeting notes together. When you revisit a decision, it helps to see what you knew at the time and what you’ve learnt since.
